While some work is being done in relation to the past and its consequences today, there has been relatively little emphasis on consideration of Te Tiriti today and in the future.

The Treaty Resource Centre has been established with this focus, aiming to promote application of Te Tiriti within Aotearoa (in public, private and community sectors) and locate our efforts here within an international context.

Specifically, the objectives of the Centre are to -

bullet Promote understanding of Te Tiriti throughout Aotearoa (e.g., Treaty education resource development, networking, media campaign)

bullet Encourage and assist organisations to develop and implement Treaty-based policy (guidelines on audits, resource development on models being used, evaluation of effective processes)

bullet Facilitate research which contributes to understanding of Te Tiriti and its application (identify priorities, undertake research, assist others to do so)

bullet Establish and maintain a repository for materials relevant to the centre's other objectives (maintain database and library of published and unpublished materials)

bullet Share with and learn from relevant efforts overseas

The Centre will not be about Maori development or Treaty history as these are already addressed elsewhere.
