Treaty education groups are invited to fill in the TRC survey of groups and individuals who provide Treaty education and services. These providers will be listed on this page to help people arrange the type of Treaty education they want. | ||||||||||

Download the Treaty providers' survey Sample listing for Treaty groups Name Treaty Resource Centre/Te Puna Matauranga o Te Tiriti Contact 18 Otara Rd, Manukau City Description The Treaty Resource Centre promotes application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi within Aotearoa to public, business and community sectors and locates these efforts within an international context. The centre's objectives are -
The centre will not undertake Mäori development or Treaty history, as these are already addressed elsewhere. Services Education, audits, consultancy, research, resource development, professional development and support for Treaty educators, including peer supervision. Education Minimum length:1 hour Content includes: Motivations of Crown, Hapu and Europeans living in Aotearoa at the signing of Te Tiriti; why two documents; meanings of Mäori text at the time; overview of Crown Treaty violations; current situation of the Treaty Preferred group size: Any size Maximum length: 50 hours Content includes: Above plus timeline of events pre-Treaty; Declaration of Independence; 1840-1852 when the Crown was in charge; detail of Crown and Government violations; Mäori responses to violations; Government responses to violations since 1970s; Kawanatanga movement; Treaty responsiveness models for organisations and individuals; cultural identity; racism in the context of Te Tiriti. Preferred group size: Up to 25 Geographic areas Auckland region; Wellington; any other area in the country where the participant group has a Treaty relationship with Mäori. Types of groups TRC works with Any groups Ethnicity of educators and providers of other services Päkehä providers; Mäori providers; paired Mäori and Päkehä providers; Pacific providers; the TRC also networks with other ethnic groups who can provide other facilitators. Accountability relationships The TRC advisory group includes representatives of Manukau area hapu; Treaty workers in Government department; an urban Mäori organisation; and Päkehä/Tauiwi Treaty groups. The TRC also has personal accountabilities that are developing in relation to specific projects. The TRC subscribes to the Tauiwi Treaty Educators Code of Practice Principles. Evaluation Evaluation varies by situation and includes participant evaluation, peer review and tangata whenua review. Keep knowledge current through: Reading, research, attendance at monthly and annual gatherings of colleagues, peer support. Fees Fees range from free for general public groups of 18 or more and for Mäori groups; at cost for community groups; consultancy rates for Government departments and business organisations; reduced consultancy rates for educational institutions. |
